The Three List: One Sweet, One Savory, and One Boozy place to try in DC

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

Sweet: Astro Doughnuts

This technically qualifies for sweet and savory, due to the delicious fried chicken they serve up, but Astro Doughnuts is a must stop. Named to the “21 Best Donut Shops in America” by Thrillist, they serve up next-level vanilla glazed, maple bacon, PB&J, créme brûlée, and many more special flavors waiting for you in the window.

Savory: Toki Underground

Recognized in the 2018 Michelin Guide, Toki Underground continues to be one of the best places to eat in DC. Once you walk in the not-so-apparent door, you’ll see this place is special as the interior combines Asian inspired decor with skateboard culture. For starters, the fried chicken steamed buns are a must order. After you indulge in that, we recommend the Toki Classic or the Kimchi ramen.

Boozy: Tune Inn

This place is not fancy. This is a dive bar. The best kind of dive bar to visit when the night is winding down. It’s where the locals have been going since 1947. It is a feeling of pure joy, and you feel it when you approach the door to see a neon sign with “Breakfast Anytime” gleaming back at you. It’s the bar for the political elite and for the neighborhood bus driver. It’s a place where everyone fits.
