Xiao Bao Biscuit

A favorite amongst locals and visitors, Xiao Bao Biscuit plates flavors from China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Restaurants that cook food from various regions don’t always work, but it totally does here. Plus, with a tagline like this, “…inspired by kick-ass grandmothers everywhere.” How can you go wrong?

Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit

Much like these little biscuits, we’ll keep this short and sweet. If you don’t get the cinnamon biscuits, you’ve made an unforgivable error. If you are out late, keep an out for their fried chicken biscuit available late on King Street.

Leon’s Fine Poultry & Oysters

There is no shortage of oyster spots in Charleston, The Ordinary being another epic location. Leon’s Fine Poultry & Oysters, aka Leon’s Oyster Shop, is a great spot to unwind and enjoy the best of Charleston on a plate. Seriously, Charleston is in the south and on the water. We find no better representation than oysters and fried chicken.

The Park Cafe

The Park Cafe is a local spot tucked away from the bustle of downtown. It’s a simple go-to for breakfast when you want to slow things down a little, sip some coffee, and Instagram your heart away with all their natural light. When it comes to the food you’ll find frittatas, avocado toast, pancakes with ricotta whip, and even egg and bacon ravioli. In our opinion, the fried egg sandwich is worth two visits alone.

Little Jack’s Tavern

Normally, we include a food photo but look at this place. It’s a modern take on a classic tavern. They say it best, “We are an old-school inspired joint.” Go here for the burger and booze. It’s that simple. Need more convincing? Both Southern Living and Bon Appétit Magazine listed this spot in their Best New Restaurants of 2017. Little Jack’s also won the Burger Bash at the South Beach Food & Wine Festival. See, it’s truly a simple choice.
